Work is set to begin soon on a new book outlining the distinguished history of Atherton Collieries.
Atherton Collieries Secretary Emil Anderson has decided to take on the task of writing the book, and with the club having been formed in 1916, he's got plenty to go at.
Emil and his family have a long association with the club and therefore he is ideally placed to take on the job, but he says that he would still like to hear from former players and officials at the club before he starts the job in earnest.
Emil said: "I've begun sorting through all the information I've got already, such as old programmes, newspaper cuttings and handbooks, to try and get it into some sort of order. But when you take on something like this, you want to be sure you don't miss anything important. So I'd like to have as much as possible gathered together before I start.
"There must be many former players and officials and their families who have information, memorabilia and old pictures from the past. If there's anyone out there who has anything related to the club that they think would be of interest, I'd be delighted to hear from them".
