Glossop North End got their 2017-18 campaign in style with a 3-0 victory away at Goole.
With only 2 of the squad that finished last season on show, the Hillmen started brightly and almost took the lead early on when Jude Oyibo beat the keeper but saw the ball slide the wrong side of the post.
The deadlock was broken in the 39th minute when a Courtney Meppen-Walter cross was headed home by Ben Deegan.
After the break Dale Johnson made it 2-0 after a scramble in the Goole penalty area before Jude Oyibo scored the goal of the game in the 62nd minute, cooly finishing off a well worked move.
North End had several other chances to increase the lead later on but were denied by good goalkeeping and some last ditch defending.
Managers Paul Phillips and Steve Halford will be delighted with both the result and the clean sheet but will know they can expect a sterner test when they face Clitheroe on Tuesday.
