The conditions at Bacup on Wednesday Evening were ideal for football. A calm, mild evening and a dry pitch with plenty of grass on it promised a veritable feast of fine football. It’s only a pity that neither side had read the script.

Although the end of the season is nigh and, quite often, matches have nothing resting on them, that could not be said of this match. The home side were engaged in one of their not infrequent fights against relegation whilst the visitors were looking for all three points to keep the pressure on Runcorn Linnets, just one place ahead of them in the league table.

Supporters Club Host Successful Charity Music Night

Country night

Following Saturdays home game against Alsager Town, Glossop North End Supporters Club staged a highly successful Country Music night in the Clubhouse.

By 8pm  The room was full to capacity to see a folk-country band called “Tumbleweed” (from Chapel-en-le-Frith) open proceedings and they alternated music sets with the newly-formed Country Music band “Just Good Friends”, comprising lead vocalist Cath Horsfall (from Oldham), guitarist Jack Fitton (from Dukinfield) and Supporters Club member Keith Thompson on rhythm guitar.

With family and friends coming from as far away as Wiltshire, a great night was had by all. A large raffle was organised by Sheriff Dave Atkinson and the night raised a total of £208 towards High Peak Womens Aid, the Supporters Club charity of the season.

Many thanks to all those who supported the event.

At Alsager a few weeks ago, Glossop generally bossed the play & opened the scoring only to see The Bullets equalise out of nothing before finally taking the three points.  On Saturday at Surrey Street the same pattern played out, only this time the margin of victory was more emphatic.
