Despite the driving rain the 3-strong BBC crew managed to film inside and out of the Arthur Goldthorpe Stadium and interview Chairman Dave Atkinson and Press Officer Jonathan Haggart before moving on to training and speaking to Manager Chris Willcock and Club Captain Dave Young.

The BBC have regained the rights to the FA Cup from this season and is keen to cover the competition from the very start, selecting North End for their Extra Preliminary round coverage.

The feature, likely to be around 2 minutes long, will show on BBC News Sportsday from 1830 on Friday 15th August and again on Saturday Sportsday’ at 1250 on BBC1 on the 16th.  It may also feature on BBC Breakfast on Saturday morning and be placed on the BBC Sport website and will also be shown on BBC World across the globe!

Bruce enjoyed GNE’s 1-0 league victory over AFC Blackpool and was delighted to offer sponsorship to the club, establishing a link between two Glossop institutions – Lancashire Chemicals has been based in Glossop since 1937.

Now owned by Plater Chemicals, the company operates on a 5 hectare site just a few hundred metres from the North End pitch.

The football club’s Chairman, Dave Atkinson, was thrilled to welcome Bruce to the club, saying “We’re always happy to welcome local firms as sponsors of the club, and it’s fantastic that Bruce and Lancashire Chemicals have agreed to become one of our valued backers.  It was fantastic to show Bruce and his family around the ground on Saturday, and win the game to boot, and I know he enjoyed the afternoon.  I’m sure he caught a little of the GNE bug that all us volunteers at the club have caught at over the years!”
