Glossop North End welcomed Lancashire Chemicals Managing Director, Bruce Hendon, and his family to Surrey Street on Saturday to formally seal a sponsorship deal that will see the firm become The Hillmen’s back of the shirt sponsors.
Bruce enjoyed GNE’s 1-0 league victory over AFC Blackpool and was delighted to offer sponsorship to the club, establishing a link between two Glossop institutions – Lancashire Chemicals has been based in Glossop since 1937.
Now owned by Plater Chemicals, the company operates on a 5 hectare site just a few hundred metres from the North End pitch.
The football club’s Chairman, Dave Atkinson, was thrilled to welcome Bruce to the club, saying “We’re always happy to welcome local firms as sponsors of the club, and it’s fantastic that Bruce and Lancashire Chemicals have agreed to become one of our valued backers. It was fantastic to show Bruce and his family around the ground on Saturday, and win the game to boot, and I know he enjoyed the afternoon. I’m sure he caught a little of the GNE bug that all us volunteers at the club have caught at over the years!”
