As the Bank Holiday looms ever closer, it’s a double header of football this weekend for Glossop North End.First up on Saturday (26th March) is a trip to Farsley Celtic. The two teams met for the first time back in September with Glossop running out 2-1 winners, courtesy of two goals from Jamie Rainford. Farlsey had a stuttering start to the season, but since November they went on a 15 game unbeaten run in the league and cup and are currently 9th in the Evo-Stik Northern First Division.
Recent games of note have included the 5-0 beating of Northwich Victoria in January and a 6-0 demolition of Droylsden. They do however, go into Saturday’s game on the back of 3 defeats at the hands of Radcliffe Borough, Mossley and Witton Albion. Saturday’s game should be a cracker with Chris Willcock and his Glossop North End side aiming to bounce back with great intent from the midweek loss at Clitheroe.
For directions to Farsley Celtic, see Google Maps.
On Bank Holiday Monday (28th March), Mossley are the visitors to Surrey Street. Mossley will need no introduction, with the two teams having last met in the league back in the middle of February. Mossley took the spoils in that game and Glossop North End will be eager to avenge that defeat. Mossley, like Farsley have lacked consistency this season but have started to come good. Mossley only have one win in their last four games, conceeding 4 goals in each of the three loses; their last win however was on Tuesday against Farsley Celtic.
As we all know, the form book goes out of the window when local bragging rights are at stake and Monday’s game at Surrey Street will be no exception. Monday’s game at Surrey Street is a 3pm kick off.
There will be full match commentary of both games from Hillmen Radio.
PS. Don’t forget the clocks go forward this Sunday.
