FA Vase Quarter Final Postponed/Re-arranged

The FA Vase quarter final between Shaw Lane Aquaforce and Glossop North End, scheduled for 28 February has been postponed.   The match will now be played on SUNDAY 1ST MARCH at Sandy Lane, Worksop, kicking off at 3pm.  Supporters will recall this as the venue of our 4th round win against Worksop Town.

It became apparent earlier in the week that there was only a slim chance of the Shaw Lane pitch being fit to host the game.  The last 48 hours have been spent trying to find a suitable alternative for a Saturday 3pm kick off, but unfortunately no venue could be found that was acceptable to all three parties involved – Glossop North End, Shaw Lane Aquaforce and the FA.  Surrey Street was mooted, but this was not allowed by the competition committee.

A Sunday kick off at Worksop has been reluctantly accepted by the Glossop North End board, taking into consideration all factors.  A pure postponement would have meant another two league fixtures being postponed until next Saturday, with still no guarantee that the pitch at Shaw Lane would be ready for that re-arranged date.  Both teams already have a congested fixture list and are challenging for promotion, so this compromise was reached, although only after consultation with the management and players.

We can only apologise for the short notice, however this change has been ratified only this morning.  We know that this will inconvenience many of you – because it certainly inconveniences the players and directors – but the squad hopes that as many as possible of you who were planning to attend can re-arrange plans to travel on Sunday.

The club is now trying to re-arrange transport to the game and hope to run a club bus.  If you had booked a place on the original bus, please could you reconfirm your intentions on the appropriate thread on the unofficial messageboard.
