The Glossop North End Supporters Club chosen charity for the 2014-15 season is;
HaTS (Haematology & Transplant Support) at The Christie
Full back Matt Russell and his family have been raising money for HaTS in memory of his mum who passed away in 2012, aged 47, after going through a six month battle with cancer, more specifically, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).
“ All I want to do is highlight how big cancer actually is, and how donations contribute to hopefully, one day, finding a cure! But my main reason is to keep my Mum’s name alive for years to come and make her as proud as possible!” Matt Russell
As one of our players, we would not only like to help him raise funds but help support patients and families going through the same battles that cancer devastatingly brings with it.
As in previous seasons, the Supporters Club will be hosting a number of events in aid of the charity and details of these will be made available on the website, in the matchday programme and in the clubhouse.
Although not a Supporters Club run event Matt is organising the following to raise money for HaTS;
The Carol Russell Memorial Trophy
Sunday 19th October
Burnage Rugby Club
The event runs from 12.30-6pm and will see 16 6-a-side teams competing for the trophy.
If anyone is interested in entering a team or supporting the event in any way please contact the event organisers via Twitter at @CRMT2014 or email the Supporters Club at gnesc1886@gmail.com.
